Mrs. Maria Guzman
|
Mrs. Guzman is a dedicated member of the faculty at St. Philip the Apostle School, serving as the 5th grade homeroom teacher and Middle School Social Studies teacher for grades 6 through 8. Now in her seventh year at St. Philip, she brings both experience and a deep commitment to student growth in and out of the classroom.
A lifelong Catholic school student, Mrs. Guzman attended Catholic schools from kindergarten through college and earned her degree in Social Sciences, along with a middle grade endorsement, from Loyola University. Her strong educational foundation is reflected in the engaging and meaningful learning environment she creates for her students each day.
One of the most unique and impactful aspects of Mrs. Guzman’s role is the opportunity to teach many of her students over the course of four years—from 5th grade through 8th grade. This allows her to build lasting relationships and truly understand each student’s academic and personal growth. She takes great pride in guiding her students as they mature into confident, capable young individuals.
Beyond the classroom, Mrs. Guzman enjoys reading, trying new restaurants, and spending time on nature walks. She lives in Wood Dale with her husband, and they are proud parents of two adult sons. Their family are active members of Queen of the Rosary Parish in Elk Grove Village.
FUN FACT: A memorable part of Mrs. Guzman’s story is her experience growing up showing her American Saddlebred horse, “Top Honor,” at horse shows—a reflection of the dedication and passion she brings to all she does.
