Did you know you can earn a state tax credit while helping more children attend St. Philip the Apostle School?
Under the Invest in Kids Act, which Illinois enacted in August 2017, individuals and businesses can donate money to a Scholarship Granting Organization (SGO) and receive credit on their state income tax return. St. Philip the Apostle School uses the SGO Empower Illinois, which then distributes the donations as scholarships to qualifying students who wish to attend St. Philip the Apostle School and other nonpublic schools.

Under this program, individuals and businesses can receive a 75% credit on their donation. This means that if you donate $1,000, you will receive a credit of $750. If you donate $10,000, you will receive a credit of $7,500.

Register
Set up an account on mytax.illinois.gov before applying for a tax credit. Note: the approval process can take up to 10 days and involves a mailed PIN.

Reserve
After you have registered, you can reserve your tax credit for the 2019 calendar year with the Illinois Department of Revenue in order to make a donation. Please reserve your tax credit as soon as possible, since credits are limited and are awarded to donors on a first-come, first-served basis.

When reserving your tax credit:
  • Select Empower Illinois as your Scholarship Granting Organization
  • Select Region 2 and St. Philip the Apostle School as your recipient school. This ensures the money will benefit students who wish to attend our school.
